Fast and Simple Algorithms for Recognizing Chordal Comparability Graphs and Interval Graphs

چکیده
In this paper, we present a linear-time algorithm for substitution decomposition on chordal graphs. Based on this result, we develop a linear-time algorithm for transitive orientation on chordal comparability graphs, which reduces the complexity of chordal comparability recognition from O(n) to O(n+m). We also devise a simple linear-time algorithm for interval graph recognition where no complicated data structure is involved.

A Width Parameter Useful for Chordal and Co-comparability Graphs
In 2013 Belmonte and Vatshelle used mim-width, a graph parameter bounded on interval graphs and permutation graphs that strictly generalizes clique-width, to explain existing algorithms for many domination-type problems, also known as (σ, ρ)problems or LC-VSVP problems, on many special graph classes. In this paper, we focus on chordal graphs and co-comparability graphs, that strictly contain in...
متن کاملThe Simultaneous Representation Problem for Chordal, Comparability and Permutation Graphs
We introduce a notion of simultaneity for any class of graphs with an intersection representation (interval graphs, chordal graphs, etc.) and for comparability graphs, which are represented by transitive orientations. Let G1 and G2 be graphs from such a class C, sharing some vertices I and the corresponding induced edges. Then G1 and G2 are said to be simultaneous C graphs if there exist repres...
متن کاملSimultaneous Interval Graphs
In a recent paper, we introduced the simultaneous representation problem (defined for any graph class C) and studied the problem for chordal, comparability and permutation graphs. For interval graphs, the problem is defined as follows. Two interval graphs G1 and G2, sharing some vertices I (and the corresponding induced edges), are said to be “simultaneous interval graphs” if there exist interv...
متن کاملNC Algorithms for Recognizing Chordal Graphs and k Trees
We present parallel algorithms for recognizing the chordal graphs and k trees. Under the model of computation PRAM with concurrent reading and writing allowed, these algorithms take O(log n) time and require O(n4) processors. Our algorithms have an improved processor-bound than an independent result by Edenbrandt for recognizing chordal graphs in parallel using O(n3m) processors. Furthermore, o...
متن کاملReconfiguration of Colorable Sets in Classes of Perfect Graphs
A set of vertices in a graph is c-colorable if the subgraph induced by the set has a proper c-coloring. In this paper, we study the problem of finding a step-by-step transformation (reconfiguration) between two c-colorable sets in the same graph. This problem generalizes the well-studied Independent Set Reconfiguration problem. As the first step toward a systematic understanding of the complexi...
